Join us for a nature walk on the Preserve! You will learn about wetland science, natural plant and animal species, and the history of the Swaner Preserve.
Tall grass, uneven footing, and wet ground may be encountered and can be challenging for younger children and some seniors. Participants who do not wish to do the entire 1 hour and 15 minute tour are welcome to turn around at any time during the walk.
Please come prepared for outdoor conditions: Sturdy boots or shoes (close-toed) are recommended along with a water bottle.
During this tour, you will learn about the history of the Preserve as well as what kinds of plants and animals you will find during the winter. Additionally, you will have time to search for and identify animal tracks and other signs of animal life on the Preserve. This outing is appropriate for all ages and will take place on generally flat terrain with a slight uphill grade. Could be challenging for younger children and some seniors.
Please come prepared with snow gear, such as boots, snowpants, hats, gloves, coat,
and water bottle.
Snowshoes can be rented from the EcoCenter if needed - $2.50 for members, $5 for non-members.
